Charging chair

Project Description

The Charging Chair

One can’t understand the needs of a community if he/she doesn’t put his/herself in its member’s shoes. Also, we figured out the importance of a follow-up structure: one must always have a clear answer when thinking what will happen with the final product. And all these came as a consequence of the D`Inno Labproject. After 6 months of testing social innovation through a Design Thinking process bwtween Modulab and the teams representing different NGOs in the contest, we have come up with 4 prototypes responding to four of the problems raised by the NGOs.

Amongst the 4 prototypes,

The Charging Chair, as its name claims, produces electric energy.  It was an Urban 2020 initiative, an association that proposes creative projects for the activation of the urban spaces. The chair has a 220 volts plug and uses the gravitation and the weight of the person who sits in it to produce electric energy. Placed in the urban environment, this can be used for charging the cellphone, the tablet or a laptop.

“We wish the project to offer electric energy accessible in the easiest way possible, adapted to modern life, where technology is often used”, Reini Stadler from Urban 2020 explained.
